Not sure what to say?

One of my favorite teachers ever. He was tough, fair, yet extremely compassionate. He would be proud to know I became a history teacher too for over 14 years. Thanks for all the funny awkward silences and deadpan humor. You will be sorely missed. Will Gordon BHS 05'

Mr Hoyt was a special person in my life. The thought crossed my mind more than a few times to track him down and say hello and say thanks for not only for his excellent instruction on my favorite subject, but particularly for taking the time to motivate and encourage me to continue my education. Sadly now it's too late. I did visit with him at BHS in the early 80s and requested he write me a letter of recommendation which he readily did. He never hesitated to be helpful to others as evidenced...

You were a great teacher, Mr Hoyt. Always made history interesting. RIP.

He was a great History Teacher. He really had a great passion for the subject and helped me with my college applications in 1982. I am so sorry to learn of his passing. My sincere condolences to your family. Best James Fisher Burlington High School Class of 1982

I´m so sorry to hear this. Jeff Hoyt was a terrific history teacher. Rather than just assign us a boring report - he asked us to take a side on an issue and defend it. Jeff wanted us to be "critical thinkers" in 1968...before the term became widespread. He came to at least one of our Class of 1970 reunions. May he rest in peace. Aleta Piantedosi Devaney BHS `70

My deepest sympathy to the family of Mr Hoyt. I grew up in Burlington MA and Mr Hoyt was my teacher of American History. There are a handful of teachers you remember 50 years later, but Mr Hoyt was one of them. May his family find comfort in their memories.

Jeff hired me to help him construct his A-Frame house on the birch meadow loop. An then he hired me AGAIN with Dan Galesian (A Pentucket football starr) to help restore the old Sawyer House in Merrimac. Jeff taught me me alot about alot of things - I have a great deal of affection and great memories of Jeff. I grew up next to his cousins and remember his father, George, very well. And I grew up next to Dan Hott, his cousin, who I have nothing but affection for! Thanks Cathy Boyle for...

Sorry to hear ,my neighbor of over twenty years , may you move on in the after life of peace tranquility .

To my second family, the Hoyts, praying that God will bring you comfort during this difficult time.
