It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Jeffrey A. Measday, 46, on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013. Jeff was born in Deming, N.M., July 15, 1967. He was a 1985 graduate of Las Cruces High School; then attended TVI in Albuquerque for one year. Jeff returned to his home in Las Cruces and has been an active member of the community, serving on the Doña Ana Arts Council; served one term as president of the Action Club; won numerous medals in Special Olympics and his latest joy has been participating with the BC Softball team as their coach! Jeff worked in the family business, Metal Craft Company, and also attended classes at DABCC. Jeff touched so many lives, he never met a stranger. He was certain everyone was not only his friend, but loved him and in return he loved and respected all others. Jeff was always happy; he lived and laughed with an infectious exuberance. Although Jeff had many health issues and hardships during his life, he met each challenge with grace and dignity. Never did he lose his love for life or his joyous zest for living and giving to others. We are sadden forever that God has chosen to take this Angel of Life from us so soon, but we know that we was a blessing bestowed upon us. We are so very grateful for the years that we did have with Jeff. He was the cornerstone of happiness, giving, and love in our family. Jeff will be the light in our hearts forever. Survivors include his mother and dad, Charlene and Fred Hess of Las Cruces; his father, Lawrence A. Measday of Deming; his siblings, Carla McMullan (Robert), Jared Teague (Marcy) all of Las Cruces, Lorie Underwood (Dave) of Albuquerque, Sherie Hess of Alaska; his nephews, Logan Warren, Trent McMullan, Deuce Teague, Thomas McMullan (Teresa) all of Las Cruces, Brandon Jones, Garrett Harris, Clayton Underwood, all of Albuquerque, Cameron and Caulin Otero of Farmington; his niece, Christine Peranteau (David) of Maryland; his aunts, Beverly O'Dell (Robert), Debra Voiers (Cleve), all of Las Cruces, Darlene Billett (Robert) of Deming, Marilyn Burcham (Neil), also of Las Cruces, Linda Moore (Marty) of Cortez, as well as numerous cousins. Fred, I was very shocked to see Jeff's obit yesterday. What a wonderful young man, I still remember Jeff at Zia Jr. Hi. he was a real character and a joy to have in class.
He never failed to speak when we met around town over the years.
A real gentleman.

Jeff, I sure wish I could've said "hi" to you one more time. I hadn't seen you in years and I remember our days at Zia and LCHS. You were a good person Jeff. I will always remember that skip in your step, and how you genuinely cared about others. It's tough to lose old friends. I'll pray for you buddy - rest in peace, "Ese'"
