Dear Steve and family,

I am so very saddened at the loss of Jeff. Not only have you been robbed of your son and brother, but the world has been robbed of a truly kind and great person. I will always remember Jeff for his peaceful and loving nature and I'm lucky that I will always keep and cherish the memories of bike tag, hide and go seek, and walking to school with him.

As Jeffrey's funeral service began in Colorado Springs this morning, a Mass was being said for him here in Saint Louis. A thoughtful letter which had been sent earlier to our son Steven by Jeff's friend, Sam Rethmeier was read to those assembled.
