Jeffrey Scott Plummer thought he was the funniest guy in the room and he was always his own best audience, earning himself everything from a chuckle to a belly laugh (and an eye-roll from his wife.) He could usually get others around him to laugh too, but it was due as much to his own reaction than it was to the joke or story he was telling.
That’s the effect he had on people. He always made people smile.
Jeff died Monday April 16, 2018 in his home in Sapulpa. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Lorra Plummer; his daughter Sara Plummer of Tulsa; brother Bruce Plummer and his wife, Melinda of Sapulpa; and brother Marshall Plummer of Norfolk, Virginia; as well as beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces Elizabeth and Madelyn Smith, Amanda Hamilton, Gabrielle Tweedy, Megan Plummer and Alina Enright; and nephews Travis Hampton, Bradley and Brody Plummer, and Matthew Plummer, Aaron Plummer, Dallas Plummer, Skyler Plummer, London Plummer and Dakota Plummer.
He is also survived by sister-in-law Donna Hampton and her husband, David; brother-in-law Ray Smith and wife Mary; sister-in-law Fran Tweedy; sister-in-law JoNell Enright and husband, Brian.
He is preceded in death by his father, Marshall Eugene Plummer, and mother, Judy Dian Plummer; and grandparents Monnie and Leroy Chapman and William Clyde and Naomi Plummer.
Jeff was born September 7, 1960 in San Antonio, Texas. The oldest of three boys, he and his family moved to Sapulpa in 1966. He grew up in Sapulpa and graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1978, but not before meeting his best friend and the love of his life Lorra.
They married on August 8, 1980 while attending Oklahoma State University. They welcomed their daughter, Sara, in May of 1981. He graduated with Bachelor’s in Business in 1982.
Family was the most important thing in Jeff’s life, and that word extended beyond blood relations. He was like a brother to friends like Brad and Kari Barr, Jeff Hankins, Terry Holbrook, Chris Lawson, Margo and Wade Powell, Robert Walker and Brad Warner. He considered Sara’s closest friends Kristin Ware and Kinnie Dye his daughters and Ryan Bradley his son.
His church family was also very important to him and he was a dedicated member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Sapulpa and then Christ Church Episcopal in Tulsa serving as a Vestry member, junior and senior warden, Stewardship Committee chair, acolyte master, New Hope Scholarship Committee, choir member, Altar Guild, Holy Smokers and Hospitality Committee.
He worked at Ramsey Winch for about 20 years and then PACCAR Braden Winch for nearly 10 years.
Jeff was also stubborn and loved to argue his point even when he knew he was wrong. He was a connoisseur of cussing, a trait he passed on to his daughter. He loved his OSU Cowboys, St. Louis Cardinals, and Dallas Cowboys even when it wasn’t easy. He was fiercely loyal to family and friends and would do anything for them.
And he loved kids, spoiling them with treats and candy. One of the greatest joys of his life was getting to play Santa to children at Christmas parties for New Hope, Good Shepherd, Christ Church, Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police, DHS Child Support Enforcement, and Creek County Youth Services.
Services for Jeff will be Saturday April 21 at 11 a.m. at Christ Church Episcopal, 10901 S. Yale Ave., in Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in his name to Christ Church Episcopal in Tulsa, Good Shepherd Episcopal in Sapulpa or New Hope Oklahoma.

Always a smile, usually a "dad" joke, always a Cadinals fan. A rock when I needed one, and confidant when asked. Jeff was all this and more. His memory is most obvious this time of year with baseball cranking up. Love & miss you, Bud!

I was saddened to hear of Jeff's passing. I was privileged to work with him at Ramsey Winch, and will always remember his friendly way of arguing with me about the OU/OSU rivalry's. He was a joy to know and work with.
