To the Schaffer family:

With great sadness I want to send my condolences to all on Jeff's passing. Upon hearing the news, my thoughts turned to our times at H-F, Barney Ross AZA, and AU; so many good memories. Though I knew of his lifelong struggle with diabetes, I never heard him complain once, a testament to his good nature, strength and resolve. Though time is passing, I wish you all great strength in the days ahead.

I knew Jeff from Booz Allen. He was a great guy and I loved working with him. He was smart, thoughtful, creative and caring. We had a lot of laughs together. I just now heard of his passing today and I'm sorry that I missed his funeral. I'm sure he will be missed by many people.

Jeff: While we met very infrequently, I have long admired you from afar. You have been an inspiration and a role model. I can only hope to be as strong as you.
