Geo. H. Rohde & Son Funeral Home - Cincinnati Obituary

Jeffrey Thomas Schmidlin, dear son of the late Thomas and Joyce Schmidlin (nee Solon) and Jean Jones Schmidlin, beloved husband of Sue Schmidlin (nee Linton), loving father of Kevin (Lisa), Audrey, Tyler (Britni), Nathan (Kristin) and the late Joseph Schmidlin, dear brother of Doug (Anne) and Steve (Amy) Schmidlin, Katherine (Steve) Grote, Lynda (Pete) Mendel, Jeff (Karen) Jones and the late Thomas John "TJ" Schmidlin, and, loving grandfather of Ethan and Emma Schmidlin. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Tuesday, December 15, 2015. Age 60.
Jeffrey Thomas Schmidlin, CPA; MBA, was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina at Camp Lejeune, where his father was stationed in the Marine Corps. Soon after, Jeff's parents returned to Cincinnati and produced Jeff's 4 younger siblings. Jeff attended All Saints School and St. Xavier High School before earning his Accounting Degree at Miami University, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. It was during his sophomore year at Miami when he met the love of his life, Sue Ellen Linton. He married Sue 15 days after graduating from Miami, and then promptly moved to Chicago, where he worked for the Internal Revenue Service. Two years later, Jeff and Sue moved to Cincinnati, where they have resided ever since.
Jeff's career includes public accounting at Arthur Young and Price Waterhouse; corporate tax at Cincom Systems, Inc.; V.P. of Finance at Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield. In recent years he was Financial Consultant for his brother, Steve's, construction management business, Unit Building Services. His volunteer work includes setting up one of the first recycling programs at his children's school; coaching soccer; activities at Good Shepherd Parish; fundraising for United Way; mission trips to New Mexico and Tennessee.
Jeff was a "family man" who loved spending time with his expanding family, and was "the best Opa ever" for Ethan and Emma. We will remember him cycling on his bike, hiking, and driving the boat at Lake Keowee.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Church, Hyde Park, Monday December 21 at 10:30am. Visitation at Geo. H. Rohde & Son Funeral Home, Mt. Lookout, Sunday from 2-5pm. Memorials may be directed to Melanoma Know More, 10945 Reed Hartman Highway, Suite 309, 45242.

We have so many happy memories in such a short time of knowing Jeff. We will forever think of him at the lake and our get togethers. We hope in time, you can look back and smile at your memories too...

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

Our prayers go out to Jeff's family and all the Schmidlin Clan.....I don't know how one gets through the loss of a sibling and now to endure the loss of two in such a short time....May God extend his love and compassion to each and every one of you...

Sue I am so sorry to hear of Jeffs passing. Growing up one of only 2 girls on the Schmidlin side I have many wonderful memories of my boy cousins. Jeff always had a grin on his face. We have lots of 8mm home movies of all of us growing up. Jeff was always in the mix of things. My prayers are with you and your family.

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the entire Schmidlin family. Our son Tony has been friends with Nate for many years and has always told us what a wonderful family you all are. Take comfort in each other at this difficult time and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
