Jeffrey Lynn Shira, age 60 of Athens died July 27, 2015 at his home. Born Oct. 19, 1954 in Zanesville, he was the son of the late William E. & Beatrice Kanaris Shira.
He was a graduate of Ohio University and had been employed at Ohio University as a Computer Information Technician. He was a member of the Oasis Church of Athens.
He is survived by a brother, James W. Shira of Edgewater, Fla.; an aunt, Thelma Kennedy of Irvine, Calif.; and three nephews- Douglas Shira of Pataskala, Nicholas Shira of Sarasota, Fla. and Brian Shira of Deltona, Fla.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 29th at 10:00 a.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register book at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.
Jeff and I were best friends in the 1960s. He was much smarter than I was but he accepted me as a band mate, class mates and we went through a though time together. He saved my life.
