Diane and Family:
Jeff was truly a compassionate and empathetic gentleman who I was blessed to meet. You and Jeff were a couple who personified the true meaning of love, sense of family and friendship.
He will be missed by the lives he touched, as only Jeff could do.

Rip. Jeffrey. Miss. You. Heart. And. Soul. Best. Band. Director.

I was honored to serve as his first Drum Major at Ponus Ridge Middle School and later was in the band at Brien McMahon. I remember riding my bike to his house when his first child was born. He was an incredible teacher and mentor. He was tough, but fair and a tremendous role model. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Diane and Family,
I knew Jeff from Westconn, where he was a year ahead of me in the music ed. department. I haven't seen or been in touch with him since then, but I am so inspired and awed by the stories that abound about him. What an exceptional man. I should not be surprised--in college he was fully dedicated to both music and teaching, and worked diligently and faithfully to achieve his goals. He and all of you have been much in my prayers. God's peace to you.

Diane and family, What a privilege it was to know Mr. Smith, and to have had him teach my children so many lessons, not only music, marching and performing, but important life lessons as only he could. His love of music, his passion for perfection and his dedication was something he passed on to so many...and for that, I thank you. I sincerely appreciate you sharing his talent and love with so many people. He will never be forgotten, nor will his legacy...Eyes with Pride

The music education profession will miss you for a very long time. Rest In Peace, Friend.

To Diane, Peter, Alan, and Jonathan - my sincerest condolences to the loss of Mr. Smith. I will never forget my time at Norwalk High with him pushing me to my limits everyday for four years. My you all find solace knowing the impact he left on us as students and on the city that he made us proud to be from. May God bless you all. Eyes with pride forever.

All my love,
Jason Christopher

Absolutely top three teachers I’ve ever had- and I only had him for a few musical pit orchestras. Wishing your family healing during this time.
