1959 ~ 2018
Jeffry Scott Sillito, "Jeff," left this life after a sudden illness on October 8, 2018. He was born on May 14, 1959 in Salt Lake City to John H. and Alta E. Roberts Sillito. He is survived by his brothers John and Kevin, and nieces and nephews Melissa Bocarde (Patrick), Rob Sillito (Amy), Cynthia Sillito, and Aubrey Valdez. Also by his great-nieces Sophie and Maddie Valdez, and Grace Sillito.
Jeff graduated from Skyline High School in 1977, and then received degrees from Weber State University and the University of Utah. A dedicated teacher, Jeff taught at Olympus and Cypress, but spent the last 30 years at Hunter High. In addition to teaching, he was the yearbook advisor at Hunter, and worked with FBLA on the local, state and national level. As a young man, he was active in De Molay, then as a Mason, maintaining those connections throughout his life.
He was passionate about teaching and devoted enormous energy to his classes and students; loved the Utah Jazz and especially the Los Angeles Angels; and, was always willing to lend a helping hand. While he was taken too soon, he will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew him.
Funeral services, under the direction of Serenicare and Salt Lake Lodge 17, F & A M. will be held Wednesday, October 17, with visitation at 10:00 AM, and services at 11:00, at the Masonic Temple, 650 East South Temple. In lieu of flowers please consider the Jeff Sillito Yearbook Fund at Hunter High School, 4200 South 5600 West, WVC, UT, 84120-4634. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at Serenicare.com.

Not sure what to say?

Jeff initiated me into the order of DeMolay in 1974 and we were good friends ever since. Though adulthood and distance separated us physically we always kept in touch. Wonderful guy, who I'll miss very much!

I am so sorry to hear of Jeff's passing. I know Jeff from FBLA-PBL and work in competitive events at the national center. Jeff gave up part of his summer for many years to come and help administer competitive events at our National Leadership Conference. His help, humor, and tireless efforts will be greatly missed.

I had Jeff for a number of classes throughout high school at hunter. A lot of what he taught me I still use today. Very few teachers resonated with me like he did. He was one the great ones and will be missed.

I had Mr. Sillito for 9th grade and he was a great teacher. I will put a link to a song which is called "Cole Swindell You Should Be Here" to remind us of him below:

P.S. It has only one bad word.

As my teacher in 2009 he had a love for the work and for his students. I greatly admired his love for life and I know he will be missed by many. Sending light and love at this time.

"Silly Toes" was one of the influential people of my childhood. His passion for teaching, willingness to help students, his humor and sarcasm were just what I needed during high school. I was truly shocked and saddened to learn of his passing. His influence will live on in the lives of countless people he touched over the years. Thank you Jeff, you will not be forgotten. Hunter Alum '93.

Such a great person in so many ways and like many have said, gone too soon. But we will always remember how he made yearbook fun for my kids. Always fun to chat with and supportive of all the kids he worked with in the best way possible and always helpful. He will be missed greatly and always remembered by our family for the great man and influence that he was for my kids. We send our condolences to the Sillito Family. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
