Not sure what to say?

Deeply appreciate Jelle´s insights in igneous petrology.

Professor de Boer will live on through his groundbreaking work. I show my Latin students a video about Delphi where Professor de Boer was able to prove definitively that the ancient sources regarding a fissure running beneath the adyton of the Pythia were, in fact, factual. He was a great scholar and his passing was an immense loss to academia. Requiescat in pace aeterna.

I was so very saddened to hear of the passing of my dear friend/mentor Jelle. His wonderful treks to Nova Scotia/Northern Ontario that I was fortunate to be part of,his incredible teaching skills, and his marvellous sense of humour will be greatly missed.
The time I brought some great Canadian bear meat for his wonderful family to enjoy!-PRICELESS!
Young Bjorn tagging along with us!-WONDERFUL!
Jelle-you will be sorely missed!

We will always have fond memories of Jelle,
Cotter and Joanne

Prof. DeBoer was one of the best teachers I had at Wes.

Dear de Boer family,

Jelle and my father, Dr. J. Cotter Tharin, were professors at Wesleyan in the 1960s. When I was a child, I remember handsome Jelle and beautiful Fellie. I was very happy to see Jelle again when our eldest daughter visited Wesleyan as a prospective student. Jelle warmly welcomed us, encouraged my daughter and reminisced about my father's and his time together as geology professors. I was also pleased that Fellie and Jelle were able to see my parents again two years...

Dear family of the amazing Professor Jelle de Boer
Jelle was a mentor and inspiration to me as a student at Wesleyan and throughout my subsequent Earth Science career!! And I was so glad to have had a chance to see him and Felicité last November during a return visit to Wesleyan after so many years.

Yours in grief

Dear family,
As one of Jelle's former students at Wesleyan I would like to extend my deepest sympathies. His course "Stories in Stone" was my first class at Wesleyan as a graduate student in the GLSP. The passion and excitement that he brought to his classroom was contagious. I'm sure he kindled the love of learning in hundreds if not thousands of students that he touched. I know he did for me. I was so saddened to hear of his passing and felt that I must let you know how much he was...

Dear Bitty, and your entire family,
Your Dad was an extraordinary man and will be long remembered as an inspiration at Wesleyan.
We hope you and your family heal during the loss of this irreplacable relationship.
With warm wishes and condolences,
Marybeth, Lee, Alex and Lara Ellison
