Jenelle FLYNT Obituary

FLYNT, Jenelle PossAge 85 of Nashville, TN. Mrs. Flynt, born in Washington, GA to Mr. and Mrs. Luke Poss, graduated valedictorian from Washington Wilkes High School, where she met her future husband, John Carl Flynt. Upon graduating from the Georgia State College for Women, she married John in 1946, and became an elementary school teacher while John pursued a career in retailing. In 1975, the Flynts acquired the Gus Mayer store in Green Hills, making Nashville their permanent home. They were faithful members of Woodmont Baptist Church. Jenelle was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, John; and two brothers, Malcolm and Gerald Poss. She is survived by daughter, Kay Flynt Horrell and husband Steve of Nashville, TN; son, Robert Flynt and wife Jill, Jacksonville, FL; granddaughter, Sara Darby Horrell, Dothan, AL; grandsons, the Reverend Adam Flynt and wife Kristen, Jacksonville, FL, and the Reverend John Flynt and wife Arden, Baton Rouge, LA, Lt. Peter Flynt, USN, and wife Leslie, Brooklyn, NY; great grandchildren, Gavin and Sophie Flynt, Caleb and Elizabeth Gray Flynt. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge Dr. Ed Anderson, the staff of The Cumberland at Green Hills and Guardian Hospice, and members of the Golden Rule Sunday School class for their wonderful care and kindness. A celebration of Jenelle Flynt's life will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 2 p.m., at Woodmont Baptist Church, the Reverend Adam Flynt, the Reverend John Flynt, and Dr. Jon Roebuck officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. until the service hour. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodmont Baptist Church, 2100 Woodmont Boulevard, Nashville, TN 37215; Guardian Hospice, 800 Crescent Center Drive, Suite 550, Franklin, TN 37067; or Magdalene, P.O. Box 6330B, Nashville, TN 37235.
