New London - Jennie Gonzalez, 55, of 67 Raymond St., New London, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 24, 1957, in Chicgo, the daughter of Raymond and Clara (Monatez) Acosta.

Mrs. Gonzalez was married to David Gonzalez Sr. in New London, in 1993.

Jennie participated and supported many of the Relay For Life events to benefit the American Cancer Society.

In addition to her husband, David, she is survived by her son, David Gonzalez Jr., serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in Jacksonville, N.C.; a daughter, Clara G. Gonzalez of New London; and two grandsons.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a celebration of her life beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday at her residence, followed by calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. at Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Relay For Life, American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
