Jennie Jane Porter of Montrose died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. She and her loving husband, Harold 'Homer,' celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this past October.

She was born April 28, 1942, daughter of the late Allan and Margaret (Atherton) Davis.

She graduated from Wallace High School in Idaho. She then met her soul mate, Homer, after moving to Wellsboro.

Jennie enjoyed her time camping, quilting, and especially the time she spent with her family. She worked for years at the Tunkhannock School District as a cafeteria worker, and more recently as an employee of the Interfaith Store in Montrose.

She is also survived by her two daughters and son-in-law: Lisa and Andrew Kudzinowski of Moosic, and Roxanne Porter of Montrose; three grandchildren: Jonathan, Jessica and Jordyn Kudzinowski; uncle Harry Atherton of Beaver Dams, N.Y.; aunt and uncle, Florence and Ronnie Comstock of Wellsboro; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Montrose United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jane M. Pykus officiating. Friends may call on the family from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment in the spring in the Montrose Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Lowry of the Guthrie clinic, and the loving care and compassion from the staff at Hospice Community Care in Dunmore. Donations in Jennie's name can be made to the Interfaith Store, Public Ave., Montrose.
