Jennie Steinmetz, 95, of North Bangor, passed away, Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Slate Belt Nursing and Rehab Center, Bangor.  She was the wife of the late John A.  Steinmetz.


Born in Roseto, January 23, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Domenick and Marie (Camilletti) DeFranco. 


Prior to retiring, Jennie was employed as a seamstress in the garment industry in the Slate Belt Area. 


She was a faithful and lifetime member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Roseto, and when she was unable to attend church, she regularly received Holy Communion at home and prayed the rosary daily. 


Jennie was also a member of the Roseto Rod and Gul Club Ladies Auxiliary, the Martocci-Capobianco American Legion Post 750 Ladies Auxiliary of Roseto and UNITE, formerly the ILGWU. 


She is survived by a brother, Dr. Albert DeFranco of Nazareth and several nieces and nephews.   


In addition to her husband, and parents she was preceded in death by five sisters, Mamie Smith, Clemie Svirzovsky, Lucy Horn, Rose Plattenburg, and Helen Maioriello, and five brothers, Frank, Paul, Anthony, Daniel and Domenick, Jr. 


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 3rd and Garibaldi Avenues, Roseto.  There will be a visitation, beginning at 9:30 AM until time of services at the church.  Interment will conclude services at New Catholic Cemetery, Roseto. The Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, Pen Argyl is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered in Jennie’s name to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elevator Fund, 560 N. 6th Street, Bangor, PA 18013
