Jagers and Sons Funeral Home Obituary

Jennifer Ann Brooks, 39, of Athens passed away Friday morning, August 2, 2024 at Ohio Health O’Bleness Hospital, Athens after a 15 month battle with cancer.  Born in 1984 in Athens, she is the daughter of Ann Fugate Brooks of Athens and the late Jeffrey W. Brooks, who passed away July 10th. 


A 2002 graduate of Athens High School, she also graduated from Hocking College.  She was a social worker for Health Recovery Services, Athens Co. Children’s Service and PATHS.  She enjoyed cooking, crafts, being outdoors and family activities. 


Jennifer is survived by her husband of 6 years, Jason Wallace; four children, Allyson Pinney of McArthur, Averi Pinney of McArthur, Matthew Pinney of Athens and Jacob Pinney of McArthur; a sister, Erin (Harley) Brooks-Smith of Logan; also surviving are several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.


She is preceded in death by her father, Jeffrey W. Brooks.


A visitation will be held Thursday, August 8th from 4:00- 6:00 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.  A gathering will be held at the Ohio University Inn following visitation at the funeral home.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Genetic Support Foundation at geneticsupportfoundation.org.  Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.

Jen was always a light in my life and now I feel that my life is a bit darker without her. She was too young, it was just too soon to lose her. She fiercely loved her family and fought hard to stay with us as long as she could. We miss you already.
