Keeping Her Standards High
At 8, Jennifer Mazzotta cut out magazine photos of big, luxurious kitchens and bathrooms to tape to the refrigerator door. "For my house," she said. "When I grow up."

Amused and slightly alarmed, Catherine Mazzotta said: "You shouldn't set your standards so high!"

But Jennifer replied firmly: "No, Mom. I'm going to have these."

Fifteen years later, Jennifer Mazzotta, of Queens, was one of Cantor Fitzgerald's youngest traders and engaged to Anthony Roman, a student at the police academy.

"They were on a roller coaster of making their plans," Mrs. Mazzotta said. "He was graduating in February. They were looking for a house. Their wedding was in the summer. They each were saving."

But then, Jennifer had been making meticulous plans since age 5. She got ready for kindergarten by selecting a special outfit, sharpening several number 2 pencils and packing a new box of crayons.

At the school doorway, Mrs. Mazzotta steeled herself for her daughter's tears, "but she just gave me a kiss and said 'Goodbye, Mom,' and walked in without looking back. I was the one who cried."

HEAVENLY BIRTHDAY JENNIFER MAZZOTTA, your Spirit Rays like a beacon light through all of US.,

My name is Dr Ryan Foor from Columbus, OH. I did not know Jennifer but while researching the tragedy of 9/11 came across her face in an Instagram post. It struck me, for she bares a significant resemblance to my second cousin with that smile. Jennifer was born 14 months after me and considering the passage of time we are basically the same age. We grew up in the same era/culture. We were kids in the glorious 80´s, grew up in the wild 90´s what with HS and College, and sought careers in...

A belated Happy Heavenly birthday. I came across your name on a 9/11 Instagram memorial page. You were about 9 months younger than me on that terrible day and it made me take a moment and realize how much I’ve done since that day and how much time was taken from you. I went thru and read every comment from your sweet Mother from the most recent to the very beginning when her emotions were so raw. I can’t imagine how she dealt with it but I pray she’s doing ok. We will never forget you or the...

Happy heavenly birthday Jennifer. We love and miss you very much. Aunt Helen and cousin Nicole

Thinking again of Jennifer on the 23rd anniversary of that awful day she and so many others were so cruelly and abruptly taken. I know the loss is still felt by her loved ones today and I will never forget her face and her story. RIP beautiful Jennifer...

I didn't know you. But I do know the pain of losing someone. And the only thing that makes me feel better is that God needed a special angel to watch over us. May prayers today give your wings a lift to give courage to those that were left behind.

Dear Jennifer,

It’s now over 22 year and I miss you still everyday . I have not been the same seen you were take from us and never will. I can’t explain it, it’s like an emptiness that’s always there.

Keep watching over us and send me a sign, I know you’re always with us. Love you and miss you dearly.

Love Mom

For Catherine and Michelle.......I'm so glad that this memorial for Jennifer is still here. I couldn't find it yesterday, but Legacy notified me today. I just want you to know that once again I lit a candle in your daughter/sister memory and I hope that your entire family is doing well. Also, still wondering and caring about Jennifer's fiance, Anthony. Please know that in our hearts "WE WILL NEVER FORGET." Caring in California..........Judy
