Jennifer Lynn Peterson, age 40, passed away peacefully on May 16th, 2024 at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa Florida from a short yet courageous battle with cancer. Jennifer (Jeni) was born on August 7th, 1983 to Judy and Bob Booth. She was baptized later that year in Rochester, Mn where she resided most of her life. Growing up in Rochester, Jennifer received her GED in 2001. She later met and married Sam Hanson of Spring Valley in 2003. Together they welcomed two beautiful boys into the world, Ashton Thomas on June 15th, 2002 and Riley Jase on October 23rd, 2003. They later divorced where they remained friends. In 2008 she met her now husband Dan Peterson and started dating shortly thereafter. On May 3rd, 2012 they welcomed Shea Daniel into their world. On September 9th, 2014 she married the love of her life, Dan where they resided in Stewartville, MN until June of 2023 when they pursued their dream of living in sunny Florida. They moved to Clermont Florida where they resided until Jen’s passing.
Jennifer graduated with her bachelors degree in Social Services in 2017. She then went on to further her education and achieved her Masters degree in 2022. This gave her the ability to receive her independent license in social work allowing her to accomplish her dream of starting her own practice. Additionally she was also an online professor through Winona State helping teach the master's program classes from 2022-2024. She knew the importance of her work and used her education to help others in need by providing them with the tools and resources needed to be successful. Her services ranged from helping couples and children navigate domestic violence situations to children with autism and those that struggled through addiction and depression. She did all of this by assisting them in finding the support and resources necessary during their time of need. She ensured everyone had what they needed to overcome their situation. Jennifer had a smile that could light up a room. She carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, yet she still had time to hold a hand, give a hug, have coffee, a beer, or a late-night phone call. Her service was her passion. Jennifer put her family first and made sure they had everything they needed. She loved being with her family, camping, crafting, decorating and organizing parties. Jen was brave, courageous, caring, passionate, dedicated and selfless, even becoming an ordained minister in 2019 to allow her to marry her sister Nicole and Ross Lager along with those closest to her. She is now flying with the angels.
Jennifer was a beloved wife and is survived by her husband, Dan of 9 years and her 3 boys, Ashton (21), Riley (20), and Shea (12). Her Parents Tom and Judy Snyder and her sisters Nicolle (Ross) Lager, Cassie Snyder and nephews Oliver and Nolan and her Grandparents John and Bea all of Rochester, Mn. Additional survivors include In-Law's Tom and Norma Peterson of Rochester and Sister-In-Law Jessica (Jim) Goham of Red Wing, MN and their children Ethan (15) and Clara (13).
There will be a celebration of life in Stewartville, MN on Saturday July 20th from 2-6 pm at Riverview Greens Golf course. Family and friends are invited to attend. Information for the event will be shared through social media and other resources. I am sorry your life was cut short, but you were greatly loved by so many. Sing loud with the angels, girl!!!
"I thought about you for a long time
Can't seem to get you off my mind
I can't understand why we're living life this way
I found your picture today
I swear I'll change my ways
I just called to say I want you to come back home
I found your picture today
I swear I'll change my ways
I just called to say I want you to come back...
