Jennifer Tousant Stahl
February 8, 2024
Jennifer Tousant Stahl, 52, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, passed away on February 8th, 2024, at Piedmont Medical Center, Fort Mill, South Carolina, with her devoted husband, Donald Stahl, at her side.
Jennifer, daughter of JoAnn and Merle Tousant of Sackets Harbor, New York, grew up in the Syracuse, New York, area and graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School in 1989, where she was a member of both the swim and basketball teams.
Jennifer obtained her bachelor's degree from the School of Arts and Sciences at the State University of New York at Potsdam. While attending college, Jennifer worked for five summers as a lifeguard at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville, New York. Following college, Jennifer worked at a local law firm and became interested in law. In 1995, she enrolled in the ABA Legal Assistant Program course at Syracuse University, graduating in June 1996 and beginning a career working at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Syracuse. Over the next eight years, Jennifer served in U.S. Attorney's Offices in Syracuse, Newark, and Albany. Jennifer loved to sail, and in 2003 she bought a sailboat from her future husband, Donald Stahl. Jennifer and Donald were married on a picturesque day in Sackets Harbor, New York, in June 2004. In 2007, she and Donald moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she began working for the U.S. Attorney's Office. She later moved on to work in the fraud division at Bank of America and as a paralegal, first at Brock & Scott and later at Moore & Van Allen in Charlotte. During the summers, Jennifer enjoyed working with young children, giving swim lessons and working as a lifeguard where she was most comfortable in or on the water.
Jennifer always had a passion for thrills, and she enjoyed the daring rides at amusement parks as well as skydiving. In recent years, she developed a passion for driving at road-course racetracks across the Southeast and also began working, as a corner worker, at a local racetrack. She was dedicated to building her skills in her Mustang GT, and not just keeping up with "the boys," but striving to beat them with her technical ability.
Jennifer had a wide range of talents, including cooking, baking, candy making, creating ice cream delights, working with stained glass, and letterboxing. She loved animals and never met a dog that she did not greet with a friendly hello. Jennifer and Donald provided a wonderful home to a number of pets over the years, rescued and fostered dogs, and most recently lived alongside two twin Brittanys.
Jennifer is survived by the love of her life, Donald; parents, Merle and JoAnn Tousant, Sackets Harbor, New York; brother Jeffrey Tousant, Watertown, New York, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and countless friends. Her brother Christopher Tousant of Ennis, Montana, passed away on January 24th, 2024.
A memorial service will take place at First Presbyterian Church in Watertown, New York, on Saturday, April 20th at 11:00 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Not sure what to say?

Dear Donald, Merle and Joanne, my husband and I were neighbors of Jennifer and Donald for several years and my heart was just broken to hear this news. I have never met anyone so driven and passionate in life as Jennifer - if she went after something she did it with so much drive and energy it was just crazy! Whether it was getting in shape, cooking, volunteering at the animal shelter, revvin' up her hot car - you name it - she was a force! Our dogs were buddies so I often got to spend a...

Much loved SBOT internet friend.

Dear Joanne. and Merle, We are very saddened on the great loss of both of your children. Although it has been many years since I have seen you I remember vividly the beauty of Jennifer and Christopher when he was a small child. Please except our deepest condolences. Susan and Antonio Culebras

Merle and Joann and family, My heart breaks for you at the loss of your daughter, Jennifer and your son Christopher. I hope that you can hold onto the memories and get through this time. My thoughts are prayers are with you.

I am a high school (class of 1989) classmate of Jennifer's and have fond memories of her and most recently enjoyed seeing the antics of your pups and her driving. I am so sorry for your great loss.

Jennifer was one of the kindest people I didn’t even know that well! My wife was friends with Jennifer and I met her at her 25th reunion. We stayed in touch online and communicated about many topics. One day, knowing I have a passion for hot sauce, she sent me 3 bottles of the hottest sauce she could find (it was HOT)! Who sends a gift to someone they hardly know?! Jennifer does and she became a friend and someone I will truly miss.
Sending love to all her loved ones.
