JERARD HURWITZ

I had the chance this year to dedicate a review article on a class of proteins that was discovered in Jerry´s lab. I think he would have liked it.

Still hard to believe he´s gone. He´ll live on in many of our memories.

Again my deepest sympathy. You will always be remembered!

Jerry was my first true mentor in life, who really believed in my abilities and let me know it. Losing Jerry feels like losing a dad.

Jerry had a great influence on me. As a Sr. Technician in his lab, he encourage me to aspire to reach elevated level of scientific knowledge and develop into an independent researcher. I will never forget the memory of him. He is truly missed.

As a research associate at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, I first met The Dr Hurwitz. He was a Force that will always be with me. His guidance & kindness cannot be matched. RIP Jerry

Jerry was a transformative figure in my scientific career. He was the best mentor. His teachings will always be a part of me.

When I came to Sloan-Kettering as a young Assistant Member in 1989, Jerry was warm and welcoming and called me "kid". He still called me that ten years later when I received tenure at MSKCC (and he was still working at the bench). He was a giant of his generation, and will be sorely missed.

Jerry was my PhD adviser, and had an oversized role in shaping my identity as a scientist. I will treasure the memory of him and the experience in his lab. Thank you Jerry!
