"Not different, just better" or "Not better, just different"; I cannot ever forget these phrases of Jeremy, which were always in my heart, in my blood, as an inspiration for success whatever I did or whatever I will do. I cannot forget his great eyes when he used to come at the morning in the lab, and asking "are you happy?" Unforgettable superb mentor, true scientist, great man and dear friend, someone who will be in my hearth and will miss him always.

I extend my deepest sympathy and warmest regards to Janey and the rest of Jeremy's family.
Every year that I continue in academics and enzymology, I more fully appreciate Jeremy's wit, intelligence, and elegance of style (especially in his writing and presentations) as well as the scientific training he gave me. I'm sure that I try to emulate my "scientific father" even more than I realize--and I couldn't have a better example to follow. He will be greatly missed.

Jeremy was a true mentor and a dedicated educator. He excelled in his careers as a scientist, university leader and as a family man. He will be sorely missed.

My deepest sympathy to Janey and the extended Knowles family for your untimely loss.
Jeremy was a superb mentor, a trustworthy advisor, and a true friend. He was a proud father, in spirit, to far more than three, a splendid inspiration.
