Not sure what to say?

Greg I am reading your book "Three Cups of Tea",I want to thank you and your family for the great deeds in Tanzania and Pakistan, when you were endowed with so little. That did not deter you. You have contributed immensely to betterment of mankind. May your father and mother find peace in heaven.
Charles Lwanga Lwole of Kenya

Jerene was so warm and willing to share of her time to spread the need for education, especially that which Greg provided for the girls of central Asia. She will be greatly missed by the thousands whom she touched.

I am a friend of Carolyn Humphrey. She and Jerene were very good friends throughout the years. In the mid-eighties they traveled to Vienna. I remember the two of them talking about spending Christmas in a beautiful church where "Silent Night" was first sung. It was an unforgettable experience.
This summer, Jerene was able to visit Carolyn to say her last "goodbye". Carolyn was so grateful to see her because she is unable to travel long distances. She will ALWAYS treasure the...

Jerene and I worked together many years in the Mpls. public schools, had Christmas parties at her home and summer lunches at my Scandia home. She was a great friend, wise mentor and an example of a well lived life. I will miss her. -Gretchen Lange

I send my condolences to Jerene's family. I had the pleasure of meeting and got to know Jerene. May her spirit and quest for peace live on!

She was an inspiration to our family, while principal at Westside School in River Falls, WI. She has achieved immortality by teaching all of us how one should and can lead a remarkable life. Jerene "walked" the talk. A life well-lived to the fullest!

It was an honor to have the opportunity to meet and become acquainted with Jerene. She was a very kind and knowledgeable. She had such an aura of peace. She is an inspiration and an excellent broke model fir those who had the opportunity to get to know her. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Julie Forster

Peace and light to all of Jerene's family and friends. As a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls who was majoring in elementary education, I sought out a school in which to volunteer and gain experience in my chosen field. I am so grateful that path led me to Westside Elementary, Jerene Mortenson and the wonderful staff she guided. Jerene had a big impact on me and provided me with many wonderful opportunities to grow. I measured all of the later principals I served under...

Dr. Mortenson was my elementary school principal at Westside many years ago. I remember the Pennies for Peace project and have wonderful memories of collecting pennies with my fellow students. She was a remarkable woman. I'm so sorry for your loss.
