Mr Amend was an exceptional teacher at OHS and kept us on our toes. He brought intelligence, enthusiasm and high expectations to his Biology class. One of the best teachers I have ever known. My condolences to his family and friends

Uncle Jerry... where do I begin, so many memories! My first memories is of our families getting together to celebrate some holidays or just visiting at each other's homes when we were young kids. Our families going to Bertram's (sp?) Island amusement park. Uncle Jerry and my father jumping off our garage roof into our swimming pool! Then becoming adults and moving on with our lives, we lost touch over the years. When my dad moved to North Carolina he would come and visit and we would gather...

Jerry was a special friend. In addition to our years shared teaching at Sparta, I was privileged to share two memorable motorcycle trips through northern New York and Canada. I also sat in on his biochemistry to learn from a master teacher as a student and an educator. I also enjoyed assisting Jerry in putting a roof on my house.
