Not sure what to say?

I was a poor, undocumented student when I met Mr. Urfrig in my last year at Venice High School. I had few prospects for success, and yet, I became the first recipient of Mr. Urfrig's Business Education Scholarship. He saw something in me, I had not yet discovered myself. As a teacher now, I can only hope to inspire success and be that helping hand he was to me. Thank you, Mr. Urfrig.

A couple of weeks before he passed, tired and weak as he was, Jerry called me because he wanted to make certain to return my phone message! That was Jerry, and why all who knew him will miss his kindness, intelligence, and love of life. Sue, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Jerry was an inspirational teacher and a strong figure in the community. He will be greatly missed.

Dear Sue and family:

So very sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. He was a long time friend and I felt I knew his whole family. We would only meet once a year but would catch up on our lives. . . So fond of Jerry. I know his family feels the blessings he brought to their lives. Wish you all well.

My wife Liz and I extend our condolences.Jerry's father and my father were in the same club back in Chicago and he spoke fondly of those days. I lost my mother a year ago. I remember our family visits at the house on Sterns Dr. Jerry was in a math class with me at Fairfax and I last saw him at a birthday party for Joe Golant.

God Bless

Jerry will be missed greatly. He was a loyal and kind friend to our family for many years.

So sad to hear about the passing of Mr. Urfrig. He was such a wonderful teacher. He demonstrated a genuine interest in the lives of his students both inside and outside of the classroom. His passion for kids was obvious. So sorry for your loss. As I am sure you are aware, he had a profound impact on the lives of so many students over the course if his career. Thanks for sharing him with us! RIP Mr. Urfrig.
