Jerome Webb Obituary - Death Notice and Service Information

Jerome Webb passed away peacefully on January 23rd after a very full life. He is survived by his sister Mary, his wife of 68 years Imogene, his children David (Debbie), Deborah (Joel), and Cynthia (John), his foster son Neil (Lynn), plus many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Emily (née Styer) Webb, his brothers Roland, Donald, and Richard, and sisters Pauline and Maurice.Coming of age in the post-war era, Jerome found a career as a young man with RR Donnelley, where he worked hard for 36 years. Jerome and Jean soon settled into their house in Homewood in 1963. After retiring from Donnelley he found retirement a little too slow, which led him to a well-enjoyed second career working as a handyman for the HF Racquet & Fitness Club. His time there enabled him to utilize his many hard-won skills and brought him even closer to his community.He is fondly remembered for his steady personality, endearing quirks, and many hobbies. He rode his motorcycles until he was 87, only stopping when a stroke cost him his short term memory and much of his vision. He was always there to help anyone who needed it. With his wife Jean, he completely transformed & expanded their home, putting his heart into creating a place where the family could gather, stay, and create lasting memories. He loved to sit and watch the birds in his yard interacting with the feeders he rigged up for them as the wind chimes he made sounded off nearby. He enjoyed being active, anything from walking with his grandkids to the local Dairy Queen to long road trips to visit far-flung family members. He had a well-developed appreciation for life’s small joys that remains an inspiration to his family and those who loved him. “Eat dessert first, to make sure you have room for it.”A celebration of life will be held at his home on May 16th, all are welcome, please contact the family for details.
