Not sure what to say?

I lived on the Dead end St. Washington CT. Sandusky Ohio. Right next to your Clinic. I washed and waxed your car and a few other Docs. Your a cool lady and I wanted you to know I never forgot you. Alan Patrick Jr. Semper Fi

A very,very brave woman!

Jerri seemed like a brave woman.

I heard Dr Nielsen speak at a library event in Jacksonville NC back in the 1990s and her words changed my whole perspective on life. She said that at one point in her time when she was isolated and under stress at during her stay in Antarctica, she found herself exceptionally opposed to one of the people stationed with her until she caught herself short and suddenly realized, "I might not like this man but both he and I were chosen for our distinct abilities. We both are here to see that our...

Jerri Nielsen had a medical practice in Sandusky, Ohio called the After Hours Clinic. It was unusual in that she held late afternoon til about 10 pm office hours, very family friendly. When my children were very young, She was their physician, and provided what I thought was very good and compassinate health care. I remember when the practice closed and she moved away. I was aware of her again when the South Pole story came out. Hadn't heard anything in the intervening years, until last week....

Having just finished reading "Icebound" in one sitting, I Immediately checked to see if Jerri had survived her cancer. Although sad to see she has died, I was glad that she survived for several years and was able to travel the world and return to Antarctica.

Jerri's personal trials and reasons for wanting to go to the South Pole resonate deeply with me. Her words, her life, are an inspiration.

I have just finished my second reading of Ice Bound. Through her book and her life experiences she gave me the courage to look inside my life. God bless her.

I've just finished the book this morning. It was an amazing book about an amazing person. As sick as she was she still took care of the people who were so dependent on her. Jerri, you are a role model to me. I really hope to meet you someday when it's my turn. R.I.P. my deepest condolences to the family
