Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Lynn Adkins, 82, of Pensacola, FL who passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21, 2025.

Jerry was born on March 8, 1943, in Panama City, FL to Coy and Vivian Pelham. She graduated from Pensacola Technical High School and pursued a career in nursing. She married the love of her life, Dr. Kermit Adkins, on New Year's Eve 1975 and celebrated their 50-year anniversary before her passing. Jerry was the heart of a large, blended family that she adored. Jerry and Kermit's house was the gathering place for holidays, cookouts, and where the grandchildren would come after school. Summers were spent at the beach surrounded by family and friends. Jerry was a dedicated member of the Krewe of Aphrodite, The Mayokis, and an active member of Fiesta of Five Flags. She proudly served as Queen of the Krewe of Lafitte and the Krewe of Aphrodite.

Jerry is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Kenneth Earl Pelham; as well as her sister, Peggy Jean Otts.

She was a devoted wife of Dr. Kermit Adkins and a loving mother to Jackie Henderson, Diana Quigley, and Patrick Fairhurst (Lora) and stepmother to Dr. Rick Adkins (Gayle), Jan Wheeler and Dr. Allen Adkins (Debbie); sister to Coy Pelham (Kathy); as well as grandmother to Shea Krause (Travis, Avery, Ezalyn, Haven, Eve) Rachel Newbill (Bentley), Heather Delaney (Ryan, Ella, Grayson), Brandin Nordin (Kody, Adaline), Miranda Cunningham (Trent) Addison Cronk, Jordan Fairhurst, Seth Adkins, Ian Adkins (Brooke), Brian Wheeler, Matt Wheeler (Katie, Jace, Amelia, Nevaeh), Ricki Sherland (Grant), Newton Adkins, Alexandra Tripp (Major), and Fisher Adkins (Lauren).

A Visitation will be held 10:00am until a Funeral Service begins at 11:00am Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, with Fr. Walt Kindergan officiating.

Jerry attended Christ Episcopal Church, and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church in her honor.
