Jerry Clifford Armstrong

Jerry Clifford Armstrong 1941- 2021 Gastonia – Jerry Clifford Armstrong, 80, passed away on December 31, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Sandy Plains Baptist Church, 5323 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28056 with Reverend Richard Brown officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Gaston County Honor Guard. The Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m.until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service. He was born February 25, 1941, in Gaston County, NC., and was the son of the late James Armstrong and Roxie Gilreath Armstrong. Jerry was a graduate of Gastonia High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a former employee of W.G. Lord Plant now Burlington Industries as a computer programmer. He also worked at AMP for many years and later worked for Gaston County School Systems before retiring. Jerry was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church. He loved helping the elderly at any opportunity that he could and was known for being a great handyman. Jerry served as a Scout Leader in the Community for many years. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, JoAnn Strickland Armstrong; his children, James Edward Armstrong and wife Amanda; Judith Smith and husband Robby; and brothers, Roy and Troy Armstrong; grandchildren, Jessica and fiancé Jason Cloninger, Jack, Hunter, Houston, and Hanna. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be :00 p.m., Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Sandy Plains Baptist Church.
