Jerry Mack Barberee Sr. 74 of Texarkana, TX passed away Friday March 13, 2015 at Christus St. Michael Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. His wife Kaye and son Bubba was lovingly by his side.

Jerry started his journey with Multiple Myeloma Cancer in 2010. He went through a stem cell transplant which resulted in him going into remission by October 2011. After two years of remission the cancer came back December 2014. Once again he bravely went through chemotherapy and a combination of oral medications to combat Multiple Myeloma Cancer. His journey ended March 13, 2015. Jerry was born in Old London, TX to Earnest and Erlene Bailey Barberee on May 10, 1940. He was a retired mechanic and oil field worker. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robbie Jo Barberee, a great grandson Jason Kyle Barberee Jr., and a step son Michael Barberee.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Kaye Bell Barberee of Texarkana, TX one son and daughter in law Jerry Mack Barberee Jr. and Sonya LaBoon of New Boston, TX, one daughter and son in law Gina and Bill Latham of Bryan, TX, two step daughters and their husbands Marnie and Doyal Ward Jr. of Ashdown, AR, Shelley and Mike Jones of Texarkana, AR, one sister and brother in law Carol and Lawrence Pashe of Longview, TX, eight grandchildren and 10 great grand children.

He graduated from Springhill High School, Longview, TX in 1958. Jerry loved the outdoors. His favorite time of the year was fall. He loved walking in woods and spent a lot of time there when he was looking for duck and deer signs. Other hobbies were carving ducks, deer, guns which he painted and a number of other things which he gave to family and friends. He loved history, especially during the Civil War. Jerry also wrote many stories about his experiences beginning from the age of five years old.

Memorial Services will be 2:00pm Saturday, April 4th, 2015 at Texarkana Funeral Home Texas Blvd. Brother Jimmy Evans and Brother Charley Davis officiating.
