Major Jerry Donald Boram, US Army (Ret.), 71, of Salado, Texas died Thursday, April 2, 2015 at St. David's Hospital in Georgetown, Texas after battling cancer.
He was born May 7, 1943 in Humphreys, Missouri to Harold and Mae (Smith) Boram. He graduated from Oswego High School in Oswego, Illinois before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Upon completion of his enlistment, he attended and graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a degree in business. He ultimately forged his career as an officer serving in the United States Army where he retired in 1988 as the Directorate of Combat Developments, Threat Management Division, Fort Gordon, Georgia. He then continued his career in the defense contracting profession traveling the globe supporting military actions and training. In his retirement years, he work part-time for Stratsburger Enterprises/7-Eleven in Belton, TX.
He enjoyed outdoor projects, watching sports and old western movies, but his favorite times were spent with family and fishing on the bay.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy of Salado, TX; his children Laura Garris and her husband Ray of Seattle, WA; Russell Boram and his wife Jeanne of Menomonee Falls, WI; David Boram and his wife Stephanie of Houston, TX; and Doug Boram and his wife Monica of Round Rock, TX; his seven grandchildren Jack, Ella Rose, Cole, Lexi, Brett, Bryce, and his grandson expected later this month; his two brothers Eugene Boram and wife Donna of Morriston, FL and Verlin Boram and his wife Marilyn of Glennville, GA; and 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Harold Boram and mother Mae McNanna.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 6th from 6-8pm at Ramsey Funeral Home, 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78633. The funeral celebration will be Tuesday, April 7th at 10am at Faith Lutheran Church, 4010 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78628 with the burial service beginning at 1pm at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 SH 195, Killeen, TX 76542 with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Wounded Warrior Project.
