Jerry BURRELL

Gerald "Jerry" Burrell the son of Kenneth and Genevieve (Beck) Burrell was born February 2, 1945 at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa and departed this life on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville at the age of 64. He received his education and graduated from Estherville High School. He then attended ILCC and Marshalltown Junior College. On September 16, 1966 he was united in marriage to Diane Condra at the United Methodist Church in Des Moines, Iowa. The couple made their home in Estherville and Jerry was an insurance agent for Mutual of Omaha and Pioneer Mutual. He then formed his own independent agency called Burrell Insurance Agency. Jerry was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Eagle Scout 1961. He was an active ham radio operator; weather spotter for Emmet County for several years, receiving an award from Govenor Branstad. Jerry was also an avid sports fan - thoroughly enjoying following the spots in which his grandsons were involved in. Baseball was his greatest love, being an avid Twins; Braves and Cubs fan. He loved his Golden Retriever and spent many hours at Adult Day Care of Holy Family; Good Samaritan Society and Rosewood Manor with his dog, sharing their love. Left to cherish Jerry's memory are his wife, Diane of Estherville; son, Tim Burrell and his wife, Mary Jo and their son, Matthew of Estherville; daughter, Michelle Young and her husband, Grant and their sons, Ross and Carter of Saylorville, Iowa; and brother, Jack Burrell and his wife, Margie of Spirit Lake, Iowa.
