With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jerry “Jay” Denovellis, age 58, of Saugus. He left this world peacefully on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Malden, and raised in Somerville, Jerry was the cherished son of Charlene DeRosa and the late Jerry M. Denovellis.
A laborer by trade, Jerry was employed by Barletta Engineering / Heavy Division and was a member of LiUNA Local 22. In addition to his primary job, he spent many evenings at Leone's Subs & Pizza, where he was employed for over forty years.
Jerry was deeply devoted to his family, and he cherished every moment spent with his children. He took immense pride in their accomplishments, always celebrating their successes with love and encouragement. An avid lover of the outdoors, Jerry enjoyed spending time in his yard, making sure everything was just right. Whether it was a personal project or helping a friend, he was always willing to lend a hand.
A constant companion to Jerry was his beloved cup of coffee, which you could find in his hand wherever he went. Whether working in the yard or spending time with his loved ones, his coffee was never far from reach.
Beloved husband of June E. (Donnelly) Denovellis, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage. Devoted father of Victoria Denovellis, Charles Denovellis, and Christopher Denovellis all of Saugus. Loving son of Charlene DeRosa and the late Jerry M. Denovellis. Cherished brother of Diana Santilli of Winthrop. Also lovingly survived by his aunts, Arlene DeRosa Dascher and Lucille Cirino, along with many nieces and nephews, both by blood and by love, too numerous to mention.
A funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home on Friday, March 7th at 10:00AM. Followed by a funeral service celebrated in Somerville Community Baptist Church, 31 College Ave. Somerville at 11:00AM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
