So sad to see this and my heart goes out to Sgt Hoppe's family, friends and Peers. He was my Sgt in jrotc and helped guide me into being the US Marine that I am today. I was there for all 4 of my high school years and went to all the summer camps as well. He was someone I could always look up to and push myself to become more like. I do miss him and look back through those years often as they are the ones that really got me to grow and do more with my life.

MSgt Jerry Q. Hoppe was one of the biggest influences in my life. I was guided by what I knew and felt about him. My wife and I were his students from 1982 to 1987 at Canyon High School. When I graduated Air Force BMT, I called him before anyone else. SGT. Hoppe was a motivator. I was floored when he suggest I run for school President. I never did but I sincerely appreciated the vote of confidence. A great man who served his community many times over.

I was so grateful for Sgt. Hoppe's presence in my life. He was more than a teacher to me; he was my motivator, cheerleader, and like a dad to me. He taught me to push myself harder than anyone else, and he also stressed the importance of education. I am thankful for him and glad that I was able to attend his service. Rest In Peace to the greatest man I had the pleasure of knowing. You will always be in my heart. Debby Meyer, Canyon High School 1996
