Jerry John Jubie, Sr., 70, of McGregor, Minn., died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006 at St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth, after a long battle with heart disease, with his wife Irene and eight children at his side. After proudly serving his country in the Marines, he worked for the First National Bank of Cloquet, First Bank Stock Corporation and the United States Treasury Department as a bank examiner. In 1966 he purchased the First State Bank of Floodwood, serving as its President and chairman of the Board until its sale in 1988. Jerry was the founder of the Miller Hill State Bank (Republic Bank) in Duluth which opened in 1978. Jerry was also a past Chairman of the ARDC (Arrowhead Regional Development Organizations), District Director of the Minnesota Bankers Association, past president of the Minnesota Independent Bankers Association, and was active in many other charitable organizations and his church. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert M. and Marie H. Jubie of Cloquet; his brother, Robert Jubie, Jr. of Burnsville; and by his father-in-law, John J. Haller of Duluth. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Irene; his children, Timothy (Karen) of Rice Lake, Wisc., Thomas (Kathie) of Esko, Minn., Janine Jubie of Forrest Lake, Minn., Todd (Nicole) of Woodinville, Wash., Nanette Jubie of Eden Prairie, Minn., Kimberly Jubie of Duluth, Jerry (Julie) Jr. of Cloquet, Minn., and Jennifer (Kyle) Love of Duluth; 16 loving grandchildren, as well as two more on the way; his mother-in-law, Florence A. Haller of Duluth; and his brother, Michael (Diane) of Hermantown. Jerry will also be sadly missed by many wonderful brothers and sisters in law, nephews, nieces, cousins, and countless close friends whom he considered part of his own family. Jerry was a man of faith and his work promoting the Holy Rosary spread throughout the world through the printing and distribution of Rosary books. The family would like to say thank you to the fine doctors, nurses, and staff of St. Mary's Medical Center, the Regional Heart Center, and St. Mary's Hospice for giving us those precious extra years with our beloved husband, father, and grandpa. My dear cousins, even though I have lived away from Duluth for so many years, whenever I saw you, it was like we had been together yesterday. My memories are from many years ago, when Jerry was my "grown-up" cousin and a wonderful one he was! I remember playing "bank" in the basement of his dear Mother's home in Cloquet! And staying with Jerry and Irene at Grandma Jerina's in New Duluth when they were first married. You are all such a wonderful family; I know you will feel Jerry's love and...

Dear Irene and family,
I've been out of town and appreciated Tim's voicemail more than I can say. I am so sorry for all of you to lose a "one of a kind." He did more in his lifetime than most could do in ten. It wasn't that long ago that we had the pleasure to visit with the two of you and to say thanks once again for all Jerry did for the Schneideman's and how highly we always have held your family. Even at that last visit, Jerry referenced the importance of his faith and his...
