Jerry A. Lentz

My condolences for Mrs. Lentz and your whole family: The fact that I will never see Jerry Lentz again truly saddens me: what a FORCE of nature! He was such a caring teacher and coach, but he also became a dear friend to me when I really needed one. As others know, he inspired me to become a better runner and to have more fun along the way. I recall when we were running on one quiet, snowy morning: he had run ahead of me, out of sight. I tried to catch up and then, the "abominable snowman"...

Jerry and Clint had a close friendship that lasted over 60 years. Jerry was his best man in our wedding, they were roommates in college, taught and coached at Ledyard H.S. and shared family time together. So much to say, we are unbelievably saddened by Jerry's passing. Our deep condolences to Caroline and family. God Bless and be at peace Jerry.

Mr. Lentz is the reason majored in STEM. I would not be where I am today without his influence, support, and guidance. His ability to encourage curiosity was unparalleled. He made learning fun, and could break complex topics down into understandable elements for everyone. Dear Caroline, David and Cheri, Kristen and Eric. Our heartfelt condolences to you and your families. We were fortunate to have shared many of our families´ milestones together over the years. We will always remember Jerry´s kindness and intelligence. He was so proud of his family and the accomplishments of his students. He will be sorely missed. May his memory be a blessing.

Mr. Lentz was my 10th grade biology teacher at LHS. His teaching of the reproductive system is forever imprinted in my mind as he had the class act out the "parts". I was a fallopian tube. Thank you for a wonderful class. RIP Mr. Lentz

Of all the coaches and teachers I met through the Ledyard school system, I always felt like Mr. Lentz cared the most about me. He coached me 2 years in middle school, was a teacher of mine for a year in high school and I still think of him often. He was a force for good and will forever live in my heart and memory. God bless him and his family. He was an incredible human being.

I first met him when he hired me as his freshman basketball coach in 1979 and we remained friends ever since. He gave me the running bug and even got me an automatic entry into the NYC Marathon.
