My sincerest condolences on the passing of Jerry. I knew Jerry when we both worked at the UA and although I did not know him well he always greeted me warmly and with a smile.

I'm sure he'd long forgotten it but I reminded him occasionally that he was partially responsible for my attending the UA which ultimately led to my 47 year (and counting) career as a UA staff member. A TUSD teacher and Tucson Education Association advocate, Patty Cooper Tellam, introduced me to Janie and Jerry over 30 years ago, which started the tradition of meeting at their home on Christmas Eve to have dinner and open Christmas presents. A wonderful man gone! My prayers are with you Janie and Phil.

Jerry touched many lives, especially mine, as a surrogate father, when I was 10 years old. Our house was severely damaged in a fire and my 6 siblings and I were dispatched to the homes of friends while our house was repaired. Our relationship carried on for many years after, and his wife Janie and their son Phil remain dear friends.
