Not sure what to say?

Patty and family I am so sorry. I admired and respected "Mr. Newman" so much as a student of his in the late 70s. He was such an excellent teacher and had such an air of sereneness about him. He believed in me and my ability and even though I left Lamar and dropped the pursuit of an art career, he helped me probably more than anyone , to gain self-esteem. I think I always thought I would go back and take instruction from him again. Too late for that I guess but I hear his words in my head...

My heart goes out to Pattee and her family. Jerry and Pattee were both an inspiration to me while I attended Lamar. During the beginning of my second semester, I found myself short of funds for paint. Jerry helped me to get some supplies that enabled me to continue with my art classes. He also hired me to clean his home, and it was an honor to get to watch him work in his studio. Jerry influenced my art, and also encouraged me when I decided to return to Lamar to gain my teaching...

Jerry always made our Duck Camp a much brighter place when he and his "Hyper-Hunting-Machine" (Dixie) came to our lodge to hunt on many weekends in the 80's. I will remember him as my Good Friend and Hunting Companion. My prayers are now for his family and that they think of his great smile when they are missing him.

What a great artist Jerry was. His skill gave us all pleasure, you will be missed...

Thank you for sharing your great talent.

Jerry Newman is remembered as one of my favorite professors of art when I was a student at Lamar in the 70s. I remember this tall dignified man as he walked those outside porches of what was then the art department.

Patty, Lisa, & Bobby my heart goes out to all of you,no words that could be spoken could say what we all feel and share...

We all will miss Jerry. He taught me a lot
and I'm going to miss him.

WE ARE SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSE. OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU.
