Not sure what to say?

Blessings to you, Jrerry and Johanna. It was good to know you both. This is a late entry, but I just found out about your passing today. May you find peace and grace on the other side. Blessings. Rainer

Jerry was such a special man. I remember meeting him in yoga and him not happy I was subbing. Who would´ve thought we would become friends after that! His determination and persistence to improve his health showed his strength, and his way with others showed his heart. I feel so blessed and lucky to have had him in my life. He will not only be remembered, but very much admired and missed. Jerry and Johanna thank you both so much for the love and kindness you´ve both showed me over...

I knew Jerry when he was editor of the JCU alumni magazine. His goal was to make it the equal of any Jesuit university, large or small. I think he achieved that and then some. I was struck by the respect he showed for the alumni, faculty and whomever he made the subject of his writing. As the photo accompanying his obit reveals, I believe, he had a serious -- yet bemused -- outlook on the world.

my dear friend Jerry was a seeker par excellence, he sought the meaning of life in all it's wonderous ways, the good, the bad, the beauty, and the joyfulness. He experienced some trying sad times, but was fortified with his wisdom and great sense of humor. He remains in my head and heart. Donna

Johanna and family: My deepest condolences on the loss of Jerry. I was not fortunate enough to meet him, but he sounds like a fascinating, wonderful man. Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way. Amy (Brad Rogers´ daughter)

Jerry was a remarkably loyal, caring, generous and understanding friend. Having first known him in 1970(!) in Madison, I marvel that our friendship deepened through the last 40 years after I left Madison and he eventually moved back to Cleveland. Jerry had a big mind and an even bigger heart. Among the books he sent me over the years, the one I treasure most is Guardians of Being: Spiritual Teachings from Our Dogs and Cats, inscribed to me and our dog Satch. The takeaway was, naturally, to...

I knew Jerry and his first wife Michaela in Madison, WI. in the 1970s. He was a good friend and a keen observer of people for whom he had a deep affection - whatever their station in life. Always thoughtful, always concerned, he also had a marvelous sense of humor and irony. I reconnected with Jerry several years ago in Ohio and despite all the time and changes, he sustained the same wonderful qualities which made him a friend to all he met.

I had the sincere opportunity to meet Jerry and Johanna through mutual friends, and got to be around them for the last few years.
I always loved talking to Jerry - his innate optimism for the human condition was something that God loved dearly about him.

I was fortunate enough to be gifted his Lifesongs book which is filled with stories about his experience with his fellow humans.

I will miss my chats with Jerry immensely.
