Funeral Service Broadcast for Jerry Wayne Puckett, Sr.
Jerry Wayne Puckett, Sr., age 77, beloved husband of 57 years to Linda Gayle Thacker Puckett, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington, KY. He was born in Anderson County, KY, on March 26, 1948, to the late Albert Francis Puckett and Lula Mae Wells Puckett.
Jerry was a member of Sand Spring Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his service, he built a long and dedicated career. He retired from IBM in Lexington and later from his work as a truck driver at Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg. Jerry had a deep love for the outdoors—he especially enjoyed camping and fishing. He also found great joy in going to auctions and spent many rewarding years farming, raising cattle, and growing tobacco.
Along with his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, Sidney Puckett, James Puckett, Harold L. Puckett, Charles A. Puckett, and Lee Puckett; and his sisters, Margaret Overstreet and Frances Stine.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Linda Gayle Thacker Puckett of Lawrenceburg; his sons, Jerry Wayne Puckett, Jr. (Dianna) and Chris Puckett (Crystal) both of Lawrenceburg; his grandchildren, Tyler Puckett, Kaitlynn Casson (Kameron), Caleb Puckett, and Dylan Puckett (Katelyn); great grandchildren, Krew and Kash Casson; sister, Marcella Miller of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Hamrick officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Sand Spring Cemetery, 1616 Harrodsburg Road, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday, May 19, and again on Tuesday, May 20, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Puckett, Caleb Puckett, Dylan Puckett, Chip Dennis, Billy Thacker, and Bobby Thacker. Honorary bearers include Kaitlynn Casson and Katelyn Puckett.
Memorial contributions in honor of Jerry are suggested to Bluegrass Care Navigators, 643 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY 40601.
