Jerry Wayne Rhodes, 54, passed away from an extended illness on June 23, 2025, in Wichita Falls. He was born in Wichita Falls on August 31, 1970, to Jerry and Carol Sue (Gardner) Rhodes.
Jerry Wayne is preceded in death by grandparents, Dora and Bill Rhodes, and Henry and Joyce Gardner; stepsiblings, Randy Dunn and Misty Dunn; uncle, Tommy Rushing; and cousins, Brian Gales and Larry Nash.
Jerry Wayne is survived by his son, Josh Hatcher, and granddaughter, Ellie Sue; as well as Lil Shane, Samuel and Serenity. He is also survived by his parents, Carol Sue Mullins (Monty) and Jerry Rhodes (Karen); stepsiblings Shane Rater, Marla Johnson, and Steven Dunn; aunts, Sandy Slayton, Peggy Gales, Joan Rushing, Sandy Adams, and Linda Merrill; uncle, Bobby Slayton; and cousins, including Christie Nash, Jody Chavis, Libby Harrison, Becky Rhodes, Billy Jay Rhodes, Donald Paul Rhodes, and Michael Rhodes.
Jerry Wayne was a Journeyman Machinist at Wichita Clutch for 20 years. He not only got to work alongside his father, he also made lifelong friends during his time there. Jerry Wayne then worked for U-Haul and later, at Sheppard Air Force Base’s fitness centers. Whether it be BMX bicycling, drag racing, mini sprints, or go-carting down Southwest Parkway, Jerry Wayne had a need for speed. In his later years, he fell in love with his Ford pickup, even though he had been a lifelong Chevy man.
Jerry Wayne enjoyed making people laugh so much that he would do standup comedy at Sheppard AFB and Fort Sill NCO clubs every chance he had. He may have missed his calling.
Jerry Wayne loved food, pouring over recipes and grocery ads, sending recipes to everyone he knew. He kept his family up on what was on sale at United each week.
Jerry Wayne also had a special love for his Rottweiler, Boogie. His heart was broken when he was no longer capable of caring for him, and was so grateful to Sandy and Dennis Slayton for adopting him.
Visitation will be held between 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025 in the chapel at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310 (howf.org).

I know we may have had our differences. I am glad you were there as I was growing up. I mean you were there whenI started Highschool, got my first car, got married, and when the kids were born. I know I may not have said it. You were loved by us all and always in our hearts. I hope you are in Heaven now with the Lord and I know all the pain is gone. You never know how much u care about someone till they are gone. I didn't know it would hurt this bad . Till you were now longer here. So rest in...
