Jerry was born in southern Ohio and graduated from Nelsonville High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from Ohio University with a major in business. He began work at the Peoples Bank in Nelsonville. He worked his way through college at the bank and was grateful to Dick Hubbard and Vic Oakley for helping begin his career. He left Nelsonville and moved to Lancaster where he lived for 8 years and worked at Diamond Power. He was then transferred to New York where he worked at Babcock and Wilcox and lived in Connecticut and took the train back and forth to the city. From there he was transferred to Michigan where he was Vice President of finance with Bailey Controls. He and the family loved Michigan and outdoor activities that the upper peninsula provided. He hated to leave Michigan but he again got transferred to Louisiana. He and the family found Louisiana to be a wonderful experience where he traveled the causeway every day for work at Bailey Controls from his home in Mandeville. Jerry was then transferred to Kingwood Texas where he lived for 5 years and he worked as the Vice President of Bailey Controls. In 1987 he was transferred back to Ohio with Bailey Controls where he was Vice President. He later went on to become the Chief Financial Officer and VP of Automated Packaging Systems.
Jerry traveled to various places around the world to include Australia, England, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Germany, Norway, Sweden, France and Switzerland. It gave Jerry great joy to take his family on such trips and to various outings. He was a man of integrity and of strong faith in his Heavenly Father. In all of the places he lived he was involved with his church and held Bible studies in his home. He was a wonderful father, wonderful husband to his wife Sharon. They were high school sweethearts. Sharon loved Jerry since she was fifteen years old. They dated sporadically throughout college and by their senior year, they knew they were ready to settle down. They were married on February 7th 1964. Jerry retired in 2008 and returned to Athens, Ohio with his family to enjoy retirement life. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes fan and enjoyed his time serving as an usher and hospitality center volunteer at Christ Community Wesleyan Church.
