Not sure what to say?

Read what he wrote and know some of him, see how he carried himself and know more, listen to what he said and know even more, but it was the compassion that was who he was. I worried that I would appear goofy, or uninformed, (God forbid!), but I didn't worry Jer would judge me. Not only will I miss you, but so will the truth and the disenfranchised who don't get enough of it. Love, Jeff

Hi, friends and family. Thank you for all the kind words and notes. I still miss him like crazy, but your memories help me feel close to him.

For those who asked, Tom Ganz provides the following on the Boys and Girls Club:

The Maywood Boys and Girls Club is no more, but kids from there can affiliate with the Boys and Girls Club of Bellwood and Hillside, 4000 St. Paul Ave., Bellwood, IL 60104.

Dear Nancy,
I was sorry to hear of your loss.
It sounds as if you two were soulmates. As high school classmates, Jerry was such a gentle,
caring person. Our world, and you, deserve to have someone so special for much longer.

Nancy,

I can still see Jerry's smiling face as I entered the newsroom in Mundelein. Truly one of the nicest guys I ever worked with, he'll really be missed.

My sincere condolences to you and all of the family.

You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din, but you're half the man Jerry Wallis is.

Hope your day is filled with fond memories, Nance (what other kind can you possibly have?). Heard a song this morning that reminded me of Jer and Short Street: Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic." We played that one a lot.

Love,

Kevin

Jerry was such an easy-going guy that I was shocked to hear he’s gone at such an early age. To Nancy, his family, and many close friends, I offer my deepest sympathy and condolences. He will be missed.

Dear Nancy,
I was saddened to hear about Jerry's passing. I will always remember how hard both of you worked for me. It made my transition into management so much easier. I believe the last time I saw Jerry was at a NINA or an IPA event. As usual, he was winning an award. I am no longer in the newspaper business. Looking back on it now, I suspect one of the reasons is that fewer and fewer Jerry Wallis types were staying in the business. They were being replaced by folks with a far...

Dear Nancy,
I was saddened to read Jerry's obituary. His name belonged at the top of stories not within them. He was such a talented writer and editor.
My sincere condolences to you.

PAUL WELLSTONE WOULD HAVE BEEN PROUD OF THIS GUY. HE WAS VEHAMENTLY OPPOSED TO THE WAR IN IRAC BUT FELT SORRY FOR SOME DEFENSE WORKERS THAT HAD BEEN LAID OFF.

HE WAS A GREAT GUY, A TRUE FRIEND & JUST PLAIN FUN TO BE AROUND. I MISS YOU ALREADY, JER. REST IN PEACE.
