I have loved "Dr. C" my whole life. He was always so kind and warm and always genuinely interested in my whole family. I can remember being treated by him whenever any of us were ill - and never charging us one penny. He was more interested in making us well. He lived his whole life in this manner. Bruce Moore says it best - he will always live within me, and he will always be a part of who I am.

Of course there are no perfect people, but Dr. Chapman came as close to perfect as anyone I have ever known.

I absolutely idolized him as a youth. What better role model than him!

I will never forget his incredible baritone voice. With his encouragement, I became a professional musician. In my 39 years of experience, I have played concerts with the best singers in the world, but no one ever surpassed him.

So long as I can remember, I have loved Jesse Chapman. In the patterning of families I was the only grandchild in the groupings of reunions who did not fit in. To the Chapmans in Alabama and the Clifts in Oklahoma I was the one from ˜out of town. I was the Texan whose accent was a new sound and whose pattern of life held yesterday's outside the dimension of the familys usual calendar.
