I remember Jesse fondly from his summers teaching Math courses at UC Berkeley! He was a wildly funny person with lots of stories & we enjoyed telling tall tales in my office & sometimes during lunch. My condolences to his family & friends. Happy Trails to Jesse, Kathy Santos

Jesse will always be in the back of my mind, I met him at Lynch Jr High when I was in 7th grade in the band. He made me feel seen and he was one of the few bright spots of jr high. He was such a quiet, deep soul, and when you spoke he always made you feel important, even at such a young age. Journey on Jesse and find peace.

I'm very sad to hear this news. I remember Jesse vividly from his days as an undergraduate at MIT. Charming, sensitive, and creative. He was a big part of a number theory course I gave, and I always liked to think that in turn the course influenced his taste in mathematics. The world is poorer for his loss.

Jesse's name was well known to our family during his years at Holyoke High and MIT. My father, John Foley, had the highest regard for Jesse's intellect, creativity and work ethic. We heard much about Jesse's many accomplishments and some too about his struggles. We were aware that life did not come easily despite his unusual abilities. I am deeply saddened by the passing of Jesse, a brilliant person with a special & remarkable soul. It was a great delight to be a classmate & friend of his. Heartbreaking to know the world has lost such a vibrant young soul with so much to offer.
