Wichita Falls, Texas
Jesse Ray Joyner died peacefully in Wichita Falls on December 21, 2014.
He was born May 16, 1944, to parents Harry and Gladys (maiden-Hobbs) who have preceded him. He is survived by daughter Jenny Stokes, son, Chance Lee, step-son Chance McGhee; brothers Harry, Jerry, Kerry; sisters Lavonda, Violet; grandchildren Sophie, Gabi, Sydney and Colton.
Jesse graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1962. He served in the US Navy
(63-66). He was a Navy boxing champion and participated in 64 OlympicTrials. He was employed as a systems analyst and lived in many different cities and states.
Jesse who was affectionately known as "Big Daddy" was a larger than life personality. He loved his family and friends. He had a passion for boxing wherein he had a positive influence on the many children he coached at the Boys Clubs. He was also an avid runner who ran many marathons. He loved the rodeo and horses. In fact, he owned many horses from the time he was 16 years old.
Unfortunately, Jesse began to suffer from dementia. His family would like to thank Joseph and Krista Contreras (Gant) and their family for their loving care of Jesse.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jesse is scheduled for Friday, January 9, 2015, at 5:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church chapel in Wichita Falls.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Boys/Girls Clubs or to fight against Dementia/ Alzheimer's (i.e. Alzheimer's Society or BRACE)"

I am very sorry for your loss. The memory of Jesse lives on through my Dad when he reminisces about his high school days with Cousin Jesse at Old High. May God carry you in your time of sadness.
