Obituary

Robert Jesse Maple, of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on August 3, 2018 at age 33.

Jesse graduated from Lafayette High School in 2003 where he was the Missouri State Diving champion. In 2008, he graduated from University of Minnesota with a Bachelors degree in French and Journalism. He spent a year studying in Paris, and upon return in 2013 he received a masters degree in Sports Management from Amherst College, where he coached their mens diving team. After years of working for top fashion photographers, agencies and casting companies, Jesse was most recently a successful self-employed Casting Director in the Fashion industry, working in New York, London and Paris.

More than what he did, we want to share who he was. Jesse had a mysterious, complex and inquisitive mind. He had an opinion about everything and accepted nothing without thought. He was a painfully beautiful man who loved beautiful things, beautiful minds, beautiful faces, and beautiful places. He loved his people. He loved his friends. He loved his family. He loved his city. He loved life. And in true Jesse style, he went out on top.

Jesse was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bob Maple and his cousin, Tylor Tayrien. He is survived by his parents, Rusty and Kim; sister, Kelley Maple; brother, David Maple (Emily) ; Grandmother, Ruth Maple; Grandparents Jess and Paula Gibson and MaryAnn and Leroy Atencio; nieces Adalena Jones and Ava Maple; and nephews, Kelton Jones and Barrett Maple. Additionally, he will be forever loved and remembered by his extended family including cousins, aunts and uncles and his community of friends in New York.

Not sure what to say?

Thought of you today old friend.

You touched my heart, Jesse. Even though I knew you only briefly many years ago, I grieve your passing.

Dear Jesse, I’m thinking about you today, you cross my mind often. I’ll never forget the crazy laughs we shared in college and especially our secret game of ‘pause/resume’ that only you and I could play. You made me laugh so hard in the cafeteria one day freshman year and I share that story to so many people. You were so special and so sweet and so freaking cool. Rest In Peace buddy. I miss you. Prospect Park Bench 06.15.20

I never knew Mr. Maple. Today I sat on a Bench in Prospect Park. Before I sat, I pulled thick & large Weeds/overgrowth that was climbing the Bench. I then wondered who was the Person this Bench was dedicated to. I took a foto and googled the name. I discovered a young Man taken too soon who was loved. I sit on this Bench now with respect as the Bench has become my favorite resting place over the past year. Peace to all that read this.

I am so sorry to just now be seeing this - I was thinking of Jesse today and wanted to check in on social media and saw this devastating news. I will always remember Jesse as the absolute most handsome man, with the best clothes and shoes, that I ever dated. While I hadnt seen Jesse since we graduated high school, I thought of him and Beau often. They were two of the most kind hearted, handsome men I have ever met. Im so sorry to Jesses family and friends. I hope you all have found peace....
