Jessica Alexander Obituary

Jessica Aronow Alexander
May 19, 1957 - July 4, 2022
Jessica Aronow Alexander, age 65, passed away on July 4, 2022, in Houston, TX. On May 19, 1957, she was born to parents Saul and Judith Aronow in Beaumont, TX.
Jessica graduated magna cum laude from Forest Park High School in 1975 and subsequently gained a degree in Biology from the University of Texas-Austin in 1978. She went on to attain her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio in 1984. Jessica completed her residency in Anesthesiology in 1987 at the University of South Carolina, later completing Fellowships in Pain Management, Obstetrical Anesthesia, and Palliative Care. After receiving her Diplomate from the American Board of Anesthesiology, Jessica spent many years in leadership positions at the state and national levels of the American Medical Association and the American Board of Anesthesiology. In 1994, Jessica began working at MD Anderson in the Anesthesia and Pain Management Departments. She later became a Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
Jessica leaves a legacy of passion, altruism, and perceptiveness. She was a lifetime learner and immensely enjoyed sharing her knowledge of medicine, as well as art and life itself. Her generosity of spirit was apparent to anyone that knew her; she gave thoughtful and perceptive gifts straight from the heart. Jessica was also incredibly generous with giving her time and energy to family and friends needing compassionate medical expertise. She showed up with people to their medical appointments, performed a great deal of case management for each of these people, and made herself available for questions on an ongoing basis. Her analytical mind was only matched by her creative spirit. Jessica was passionate about art as both an enthusiast and a creator, keeping up and experimenting with contemporary styles. She loved sharing her art with the public at regional art shows and conferences, as well as individual pieces with her friends and family.
Jessica was predeceased by her father, Saul Aronow, in 1998, and cousin, Claudia Carlson, in 2016. She is survived by: her mother, Judith Aronow (San Marcos, TX); brother, Kurt Aronow (Cathy Proenza-both residing in Eldorado Springs CO); sister, Becca Aronow (Ben Obregon-both residing in Austin, TX); nephew, Arlo MK Obregon (Austin, TX); niece, Crystal Obregon (Austin, TX); Jessica loved as a daughter, Melissa Stuckey (John Stuckey II-both residing in Winston Salem, NC); Jessica loved as a grandson, Evan Stuckey (Winston Salem, NC). For the last several years, her friend Heidi Wood has been a significant and beloved part of her life. Finally, Jessica cultivated and nurtured innumerable personal, familial, and professional relationships with people, with whom she continued to feel connected throughout the years.
A memorial service is to be conducted on Saturday, August 13th, at 11:00 am at The Church of St John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Blvd, Houston, TX 77019.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, (www.mfah.org) in Jessica Alexander's honor.

We lost touch and I had been searching for Jessica, over the last three years. Even had a Sheriff trying to locate her during CoVid with no luck. I am in a bit of shock with the sad news. In moving, I stumbled across a card she had given me and an old notebook with her number. I called it before I left on vacation in early August, and her voice mail picked up. Now I know why she did not answer. I will always remember picking her up from the hospital on New Years Eve and bringing her and her 8 tanks of oxygen up all those flights of stairs in her house and Jess making witty jokes about it for years afterwards. Whether we were at the salon or I was networking your modems, or helping you pick out a dress for the symphony, I will miss our chats about life, your wise advice, stories about working on the medical plane, medicine and art discussions over tea. My mother and I both loved and adored you. I moved into River Oaks, and we would be neighbors, but your soul moved on to Heaven. Now that I finally found you, rest in peace my sweet, intelligent friend. Love is for eternity, and hopefully we will see each other again one day. You will be missed darling. https://tinyurl.com/2exj3bs9

I share your grief for Jesse´s passing. She was a beautiful lady, inside and out. We shared a birthday and then high school always had fun celebrating it together. Offering prayers of peace and understanding to all those left behind. She definitely left a mark on this world.
