Jessie Clark Obituary

Jessie Estelle Hardey Clark, 91, a longtime resident of Annapolis, died May 16 at Sinai Hospital. Born February 3, 1922 to the late James and Estelle Hardey of Chevy Chase, Jessie worked at the U.S. Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C. for several years. A long-standing member of Eastport United Methodist Church, Jessie enjoyed volunteering as an Auxiliary Member at Anne Arundel Medical Center. In addition, she was past president of the Annapolis Area Christian Women's Club and the Lux Manor Garden Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John Francis Clark and son, James Robert "Bob" Clark. She is survived by three sons, John William "Bill" Clark of Omaha, Nebraska, Gregory "Greg" Mark Clark of Richmond, Virginia, and Steven Michael "Steve" Clark of Elkton; daughter, Frances Estelle Clark DuPlayee of Annapolis; two brothers, James Hardey of Florida and Robert L. Hardey of Leesburg, Virginia; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Friends are invited to gather in celebration of her life from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 20, at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 21 at Eastport United Methodist Church, 926 Bay Ridge Avenue, Annapolis. Graveside services immediately following at Hillcrest Cemetery in Annapolis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jessie's name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
