I knew Jessie as a young girl. My parents owned the Camp Sherman Store. She and George would always bring my sister and I a little gifts from their travels.

Robertson, Jessie S. 97 6/30/1912 1/7/2010 Mom had a great life! It was a differ-ent world when she was born in 1912. Early childhood years were spent in Spencer, Idaho, where there were basically two seasons: winter and August. At 5,800-foot elevation it was sometimes 10 degrees below zero...

Other entries have described Jessie perfectly! She was indeed a grand and inspirational lady! As the daughter of her husband George's business partner, Robert Birkeland, there was never a time in my soon-to-be 60 years that I didn't know Jessie. The memories are too numerous to recount; wonderful times at our beach house with George dousing the beachfire with lighter fluid to coax it along, watching a deer at a salt lick through a window at their Camp Sherman home (trout has never tasted...

Aunt Jessie was such an inspirational and lovely lady. I will miss her. I have many wonderful memories of her and the Robertson family. We, the Townend family had three girls and Aunt Jessie and Uncle George had the three boys.
A favorite story told and retold was about me, as an infant, staying with the Robertsons while Mom (Virginia) went to the aid of my Dad (Henry), hospitalized for emergency surgery in California, when he was away on a business trip. I had the pleasure of being...

Aunt Jessie was my Godmother and a special friend to our family. She was one of my mother's closest friends and their history was long and rich. I will always remember Aunt Jessie's smile, warmth and kindness. She was a special lady and will be missed. I love you Aunt Jessie.

I learned of my Aunt Jessie's passing the weekend of the 9th of January 2010. She was godmother to Nancy and Sally Townend. My mom Virginia and Jessie were very old and dear friends. My mom remembers when she came out to Portland Oregon from Maryland with a 6 week infant in tow, Su,and the Robertsons helped my mom settle in at the Rose Manor Inn. My father Henry Townend was to work with Uncle George at Flavor Pac. This was in 1957. After my father passed away in 2004, Jessie and mom went on a...

I remember the last time I saw her at Willamette View. She was such a vibrant and gracious hostess for whatever the occasion was, even though she was probably 97 years old by then. My wife (Su Townend) referred to her as Aunt Jessie, and she certainly was.

We found conversations with Jessie inspirational, as she loved sharing her extensive knowlege and interest in the world - and joy in music, too. Even blind and 97 years old, she put spirit into those "fight" songs! We will remember her fondly. Robert and Anita Hale (WV friends)
