Jessie R. Thomas

Mrs. Thomas was a class act. I loved and admired her. I was such a silly girl yet she indulged me. Before prayer was banned in schools, one of her assignments for us was to recite the Lord's prayer, she instilled JESUS in her class and students. So now my beloved teacher, He maketh you to lay down and rest. You have earned your wings servant, job well done. Thank you Mrs. Thomas.

Mrs. Thomas was my 8th grade honors English teacher at Forest Hills Middle School in Fairfield, Alabama. What a woman of class and distinction! I was saddened to hear of her passing, but thankful for her impact on my life and in my career as an educator. I just mentioned her name to my current 4th grade students in the past week. My mother and Mrs. Thomas were in Club Astor. I remember the ladies coming to the house to meetings hearing them laugh and talk having a grand time.
