JESUS “Tuti” REGIS DUTERTE
August 29, 1932 – August 1, 2017
Jesus “Tuti” Regis Duterte, 84, of San Lorenzo, California, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Florence Hospital in Florence, Arizona. Born near the town of Carcar in the central part of Cebu Province in the Philippines, Tuti—as friends and family affectionately called him—lived most of his life in Cebu and immigrated to the USA in 1980, living in New Jersey, New York, and eventually retiring in San Lorenzo, California.
Tuti was an avid Western fan and loved to visit family in Arizona and Utah. He was a quiet and silent man who enjoyed the outdoors and the tales and history of the Old West and the Native Americans. He loved watching action movies and old Westerns, but he was happiest when around his family.
Tuti was extremely loving and proud of his six children: Jeannette Profera and her husband Vic of Florence, AZ; James Duterte and his wife Grace of Tempe, AZ; Jason Duterte of Church Wells, UT; Janice Duterte-Puffer and her husband Kenny of New City, NY; Jessamyn Duterte of San Lorenzo, CA; and Jacques Duterte and his wife Brenda of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by his wife and best friend, Jean Duterte; his three sisters—Myrna Grieder and her husband Mark of Lausanne, Switzerland; Cherrie Gross and her husband Hans of Sinzig, Germany; and Doris Stutely of Yorkshire, UK—and sister-in-law Alicia Duterte of Lodi, NJ. Tuti also enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren, Athene and Jacob Puffer of New City, NY; Jules Duterte of Charleston, SC; Zachary, Tyler, Russell, and Caden Duterte of Moore, SC; and Mitchi and Gabe Golez of Tempe, AZ. He is also survived by many loving nephews, nieces, in-laws, and other friends.
An extremely private person, Tuti did not want any services. He just wanted to be cremated and his ashes scattered at Angels Landing in Zion National Park, in Utah.
